Historic Cemetery Hotel debuts permanent kitchen - with special offers
One of Rochdale’s most-loved traditional pubs has unveiled a brand-new kitchen, promising top-notch pub grub that’s already turning heads.
The Cemetery Hotel on Bury Road has long been known for its charm and traditional pub ambiance. Known locally as a welcoming, quintessentially northern pub, it is just minutes from Spotland Stadium, and easily accessible from the town centre, and surrounding areas including Bamford, Spotland, Heywood, and Sudden.
The locals, the atmosphere, and the distinctive decor all contribute to its unique character, which has made it what it is over the years.
However, it’s looking to make its mark and get on the map as the go-to place for a proper pub lunch.
If you ever frequent Rochdale pubs and bars, then you probably know, or at least know of, Ben Boothman. He is one of the people behind the success of the Flying Horse Hotel, The Hare on the Hill, and The Baum.
Ben has added numerous local establishments to the map over the years, as his love for a proper pub, real ale, great food, and live music shine through in the venues.
He knows a quality kitchen when he sees one and made no mistake in snapping up the Cemetery Hotel’s large space with a super-sized chargrill – perfect, he says, for a “proper local chargrilled breakfast.”
“I’ve always had a soft spot for the Cemetery Hotel,” he said. “It’s got that genuine, warm, northern charm that’s hard to find. When I saw the potential of the kitchen space, especially with the chargrill and access to the borough at large.
He added: "I knew we could create something special here. Our goal is to offer a proper British pub drinking and dining experience in the area, bringing something that I feel could be something of a rarity in the coming years.
“Popping to the local isn’t easy anymore! Inflation has hit everyone’s pockets and sadly the good old British pubs have had it worse than any industry so keeping things affordable is tricky!”
“That said, we are doing our best to keep the food prices competitive and we hope the quality shines through.”
The Cemetery’s chargrilled specials are to be a main part of the menu, including a signature chargrilled breakfast which can be enjoyed in the pub or delivered within a five-mile radius.
Also on the menu is an array of classic pub meals and special creations by the Quirky Catering Company, already known around the borough for their food at Hare on the Hill, the Flying Horse Hotel, and The Baum.
The Cemetery Hotel will serve a range of classic pub meals, each prepared with a unique twist that only the talented chefs can provide. Think hearty pies, ham & eggs, and sumptuous roasts, all crafted with the finest local ingredients. Whether you're a fan of traditional fare or eager to try something new, the Cemetery Hotel has something to satisfy every palate.
“With our snugs, separate rooms, old school decor, and open fire we want people to come down and enjoy some quality, affordable food in our little wonky pub on the crossroads,” said Ben.
So whether you're a local resident or visiting Rochdale, the Cemetery Hotel is set to become your go-to spot for that little pub dining experience.
To celebrate this exciting new chapter, the Cemetery Hotel invites everyone to join them for the grand opening of the new kitchen.
“We have had a couple of weeks now settling in and feel we are ready!”
