Newhouse Academy
I am very honoured to be the Headteacher of Newhouse Academy and it is a privilege to serve our students and our community.
We are entering a new and exciting time for Newhouse Academy. Our “high expectations agenda” to ensure both our students and staff are supported to deliver the highest standards is embedding itself in the academy’s culture.
Our staff are encouraged to be imaginative and creative in the classroom in order to deliver motivational and inspiring lessons.
Newhouse Academy, is part of the Hollingworth Learning Trust. As part of the trust, we are committed to providing opportunities for all students in a school where the values of aspiration, integrity and respect are integral. This is coupled with the determination to ensure all of our students achieve their desired destinations after Year 11 when they leave us.
Our new academy believes that all students regardless of starting points, should be given the opportunity to achieve their goals in education. Newhouse Academy strives to instil in all students a belief that intelligence is an area where we can all improve if we work hard and see our mistakes as part of that learning journey.
This mindset is placed at the heart of teaching and learning and our curriculum enables our students to develop both personally and academically. This approach nurtures all students to see challenges as opportunities to flourish.
These high expectations of both students and staff are our starting point for 2021. We hope as a community you will support the students and the academy to achieve our vision and values.
Together we can rise to the challenge of supporting our students settling back into education. We are already working hard to ensure the gaps in learning have been identified and interventions are in place to support our students to achieve at the highest possible standard.
We will not be complacent, and will be relentless in our pursuit of securing strong futures for all of the students of Newhouse Academy.
Further to this, the school is about to have an additional £20m teaching block constructed in order to accommodate our broad and challenging curriculum. The build is expected to start before Christmas 2021 and will include:
- a suite of new science laboratories
- brand new design technology classrooms including engineering and construction
- drama, music and dance rooms
- a new sports centre, fitness room and all weather pitch
- new canteen
This will all enable us to support our students in having as much choice for their education and futures.
Outside of the curriculum, the school offers a wide range of opportunities for students to get involved in. This includes sports teams and clubs, performing arts activities and many trips and visits, including residential and overseas adventures.
Many talented students have achieved recognition, both locally and nationally for their involvement in sport and performing arts; their achievements are regularly celebrated by the academy.
Newhouse Academy has also achieved the gold standard in Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance, (CEIAG), in recognition of the first class support offered to students in this area.
You can see the school in action at the open evening, which takes place Tuesday 5 October between 6pm and 8pm. It’s a great opportunity to see the academy’s current and proposed facilities, talk to the staff, the students and myself.
If you are unable to attend the open evening, you can make an appointment for a tour during the day, call 01706 369436 to book an appointment. Our academy has a rigorous risk assessment in place for Covid and is fully sanitised on a daily basis.
We look forward to finally welcoming you into our academy, meeting your families and answering your questions.
