The wait for Reel Cinema is finally over

Reel Cinema opens on 4 July
After a long-anticipated wait, Rochdale’s Reel Cinema will officially open its doors to the public for the first time this weekend.
Originally planning to open in April to coincide with the release of the 25th James Bond sequel ‘No Time to Die’, visitors can finally enjoy what Reel Cinemas has to offer in the heart of Rochdale from Saturday 4 July.
It was announced back in January that Reel Cinemas would be opening their 15th cinema in Rochdale’s £250m Riverside leisure development, representing the latest in Reel’s investment into the North West.
Not one to disappoint, the new cinema will feature all of Reel’s premium seating options including seats with extra legroom, a food and drinks service and Reel’s new 'Reel Lounge' which boasts plush sofas and armchairs for the best cinema experience.
The multiplex will also benefit from a bar and Reel’s concessions offering including The Sweet Barrel and Cream & Cones providing a great range of confectionery, ice creams, waffles, and milkshakes.
Showings you can enjoy at Rochdale’s Reel Cinema from 10am on Saturday (4 July) include:
- Trolls World Tour (U)
- Onward (U)
- Sonic the Hedgehog (PG)
- Jumanji: The Next Level (12A)
- Military Wives (12A)
- The Hunt (15)
- The Invisible Man (15)
All Premiere Lounge tickets are priced at £5.50 per person; an exclusive offer for Reel Rochdale's opening weekend.
To adhere to the current COVID-19 government guidelines, measures will also be in place to ensure the safety of customers. These precautions include hand sanitiser stations at all entry points and within the cinema foyer, limited seating available within and outside the cinema screens and staggered film times to allow social distancing and sufficient time for thorough cleaning to take place between each show.
All tickets will need to be booked in advance online. There will also be no seating in the bar area and all pick n mix sweets will be pre-packed to avoid cross contamination.
Muhammad Faisal, Head of Operations at Reel Cinemas, said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring Reel Cinemas to the people of Rochdale and incredibly excited about the Riverside site. It is a terrific location for local transport links and being a part of a shopping and leisure development with restaurants and bars will create an area where local people can enjoy a great night out.”
While Reel Cinema will be screening all the latest film releases, that won’t be the end of the entertainment on offer as in future – when government guidelines are relaxed – guests will also be able to experience the latest in Virtual Reality gaming within the cinema foyer.
