Obituary: Mary Fitzpatrick

Mary Teresa Fitzpatrick passed away on Tuesday 21 October aged 78 at Bridport Community hospital in Dorset.

Mary was born 19 February 1936 in Brickens County Mayo, Ireland, the eldest child of John Joseph and Julia Fitzpatrick. After being educated at Ballinvilla National School she moved to Newcastleat the age of 17.

Mary had a full and varied working life; her first job being a “clippy” on the buses. She later ran her own corner shop in Salford. She worked for the Royal Liver Friendly Society and became a Delegate for over 30 years. Mary was a Customer Service

Manager for Thorn Television and jointly owned a successful holiday letting business.

Whilst living in Milnrow, Mary was active in local politics and was a Governor for Moorhouse County Primary School.

While living in Puncknowle she enjoyed taking part in the local church and village activities.

Mary is survived by her partner John Holker, her children George, Sandra and Susan, her siblings Martin, Margaret, Dympna, Sheila, Peter, Oliver, Tom and Joe and nine grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers Michael and John and former husband George Haynes.

Mary had a generous spirit and was much loved. She will be sadly missed by friends and relatives alike and will remain forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11.00am 7 November at St Mary’s Church Puncknowle, followed by a service of committal at Weymouth Crematorium.
