CLA appoints Robert Frewen as new surveyor in the North

Date published: 28 October 2014

The CLA in the North has appointed a new rural practice surveyor to help support members and tackle issues affecting the local rural economy.

Robert Frewen joins the organisation, which represents more than 6,000 landowners, farmers and rural businesses throughout the North, from John G Hills where he was a senior partner.

He has a strong background in rural land management with more than 20 years’ experience of supporting and advising farmers and landowners.

Mr Frewen said: “The North’s rural economy is facing a range of challenges from volatile farm gate prices through to onerous amounts of red tape and the threat of compulsory purchase.

“The CLA is ideally placed to protect our members’ interests and help them to develop and grow their businesses. I am very much looking forward to getting to grips with the new role.”

“CLA North Regional Director Dorothy Fairburn said: “Robert has in-depth knowledge of rural and landowning issues and will be a major asset to our team in the North.”

Mr Frewen, who lives near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales, is married with a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, field sports and eventing.
