Local independent recruitment agency Bamford Contract Services celebrated 25 years in business on Thursday (2 October).
Established in 1989 by founder and Managing Director Steve Berry, Bamford Contract Services has been successfully providing quality staffing solutions to commerce and industry in Rochdale and across the North West for the past 25 years.
Having started as a “one man band” Mr Berry would work his way through the telephone directory drumming up business providing temporary trades and labour to the construction industry whilst trying to make ends meet.
Now, Bamford Contract Services has grown to its current operation of 10 staff working across five different sectors serving the construction, industrial, engineering, food and commercial industries throughout the North West and Yorkshire.
The company is also currently on target for all time record sales exceeding £5 million.
Mr Berry said: “Achieving such a momentous milestone hasn’t been without its ups and downs and we certainly were not immune from the effects of the recession. But, the hard work and determination of Team Bamford to rebuild and succeed is beginning to pay off.
“The tremendous energy and positive input from Operations Director, Daniel Calvert (who is also a stakeholder in the business) has helped build a fantastic team since he joined the business in 2012, all of whom have played a significant role in helping to transform the business into the success it is today.
"Daniel, has been instrumental in developing our new food sector, successfully attaining our GLA licence in the process, worked to enable us to retain Investors in People for a third 3 year term and driving our industrial and engineering divisions from strength to strength focussing on the staffing needs of clients 'who make things'.
"Our roots were put down serving the temporary labour needs of the construction industry in Manchester and that sector remains stronger than ever, particularly social housing which has helped us weather the recent recessionary storms. There is now huge demand for construction personnel of all disciplines under the leadership of General Manager Craig Williams who has been with the business for over 7 years and who still continues to personally develop and service new business month after month."
The company is now setting their sights on achieving sales of £10 million over the next few years.
Mr Berry added: “On behalf of the management of Bamford Contract Services I’d like to say a huge thank you to our loyal clients, candidates and to our staff. Thank you for helping Bamford’s become one of the best specialist recruitment agencies in the region.”
