Funky Monkey moves to new premises

Date published: 04 June 2014

Funky Monkey Creations, which is now known as FMC Design Factory, has moved into new premises on Cheetham Street in Rochdale Town Centre.

The company, which has only moved a few doors down the road, celebrated their move with a special celebration event on Sunday (1 June) to thank their regular customers and supporters.

Rachel Oakes-Courchene, from FMC Design Factory, said: “The event went really well and everyone who came along was really positive about the move and were all praising the new premises.”

Rachel and her husband Chris decided to move from their old shop as they were running out of space.

Rachel said: “We just out grew the old shop. We started doing everything at home and then we needed a shop and now we have just got so much going on and are getting busier that we needed a bigger space. The old shop was perfect for what we had then but now we just need a bit more room.”

FMC Design Factory now hope to work on more of their side projects and can start to develop more lines of business.

“Funky Monkey Creations is now a department within FMC Design. We have a number of other departments dedicated to specific things and we are looking at working a bit more with FMC Boutique, which will be a line of ready made garments for people to buy straight away,” added
Rachel.

During Sunday’s event, the store also held a charity raffle, which is running until 22 June, when the store plan to hold an open day for the general public. The raffle is raising money for Sunshine Circle and Bolton Bulls Wheelchair Basketball team.

The Sunshine Circle is a charity to support and bring together families of children with special needs. The Bolton Bulls is a wheelchair basketball team currently playing in the third division of the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball national league.

Prizes for the raffle were donated by Lou-Elles, Bolton Bulls, Trendy Pearls, All in One Garden Centre, Vanity, Russell’s Café and Nathan and Co as well as prizes from Funky Monkey.

Rachel is pleased with the move and with the response that has been received.

She added: “Everyone had positive things to say and liked the new store so that’s a good start.”
