Heywood Company to create hundreds of jobs making 3D printed knickers
Date published: 29 May 2014
Tamicare, a Heywood based company is looking to create up to 300 jobs with the development of their new product, Cosyflex.
The firm, which is a research and development, innovation and engineering company specialising in textile and non woven materials will soon be able to produce underwear using a 3D printing process and hopes to create over 300 jobs off of the back of this development.
Following years of research experts at the company have developed a flagship product called Cosyflex which they hope will change the way clothes are made for good.
It is understood that up to 10 million pairs of 3D printed knickers will be made per year thanks to a 25 metre machine that has been created.
The machine sprays polymers and fibres in a controlled manner to produce disposable underwear, sportswear, bandages and other products.
Industries from lingerie to sport, fashion and cosmetics would all benefit from using the product.
Tamara and Ehud Giloh are the pair behind Tamicare. The company launched in 2001 after Tamara moved to England from Israel.
Currently, Tamicare employs 10 people and has attracted £10M of private investment to help develop its new technology. It is now hoped that within two years, the company will be employing more than 300 people.
Tamicare will now launch its first underwear in Israel whilst responding to enquiries from other sectors.
