Sam Wilson winner of the Young Construction Professional Award

Date published: 20 May 2014

Sam Wilson, from Rochdale, has won the Young Construction Professional Award from the Construction Development Alliance (CDA) - the award recognises the rising stars and the next generation coming up through the building and design ranks.

Having completed his HNC Studies and currently studying part-time for BSc in Architecture, Sam has progressed in three years from ‘Print Room Manager’ to secure a position as an Architectural Technologist with the Radcliffe Groves Partnership.

Sam collected his award at a ceremony at Burnley Mechanics. Channel 4’s George Clarke, architect and presenter of Restoration Man and George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, hosted the Awards which kicked-off with a gala dinner.

George Clarke said: “Many young people today face the reality of unemployment, or the uncertainty of which career path to take, so we developed the Awards to illustrate the opportunities available with construction and to also recognise the wealth of young talent coming out of our colleges and universities.”

Rod Benson, Business Unit Manager for Roofing said: “What the CDA does is vital in highlighting the construction and property industry’s contribution, as well as illustrating the wealth of talent coming out of our colleges and universities and Sika feels passionate about supporting these Awards.
