Strong showing for Mantra Learning in skills awards shortlist

Date published: 17 May 2014

The shortlist for the Skills for Business Awards 2014 has been announced and specialist training provider Middleton based Mantra Learning is behind nine of the finalists.

As well as reaching the final five in the Learning Provider of the Year category, Mantra Learning has seen its employers and learners short-listed in four other categories, including all five finalists in the Logistics Skills for Business category and one for Apprentice of the Year.

The Skills for Business Awards 2014 is an inaugural event celebrating the outstanding contribution that skills and learning make to businesses across Greater Manchester. The awards are created through collaboration between the Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMPLN), Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) and New Economy (NE).

The Learning Provider of the Year nomination recognises Mantra Learning for its success in engaging with and meeting the needs of businesses in the region.

The impact of this can be seen elsewhere in the Skills for Business Awards 2014 – all of the shortlisted nominees for the Logistics Skills for Business Awards have worked with Mantra Learning for workforce development.

Past Mantra learner Nuala Gaffney has been nominated for both the Rising Star Award and the Learning and Skills Champion Award, whilst current learner Ryan Brandon from Yearsley Logistics has been nominated for Apprentice of the Year.

Supported by Pearson the awards ceremony will be held on 3 July at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel and will be hosted by Dara O' Briain, comedian and host of the BBC's The Apprentice You're Fired.
