Yearsley Logistics in Heywood, Britain’s largest distributor of frozen foods, has spent more than £35m over the past few years to achieve further growth and success.

The company, which began in 1955, has invested heavily in the development of its nationwide network of cold stores, new services and lorries in order to improve the breadth of the service offered.

Based in Heywood the company has also installed solar panels and energy reduction technology across its premises and purchased in 26 new Mercedes Actros lorries and 50 new trailers.

Phase five of the companies development at the Heywood headquarters was also completed last summer. This development resulted in the storage capacity on site being increased to 55,000 pallets.

The current strategy set up by the company also saw the £20m spent on the expansion of the northern hub at Heywood. This included a 100,000sq foot unit built by Russell’s Construction and the acquisition of a 200,000sq foot Hams Hall Depot in the Midlands in 2012.

The company have also recently been granted planning permission for another 365,000sq foot hub in Peterborough. Construction is set to take place on the 120,000 pallet hub later this year.

The Yearsley Group currently has 13 depots nationwide.
