BMI Healthcare will not be forced to sell The Highfield Hospital
Date published: 03 April 2014
The Competition and Markets Authority has published the Final Report of its market investigation into private healthcare and the threat of having to sell seven of its hospitals, including BMI The Highfield Hospital, has been dropped.
In January, in its Provisional Decision on Remedies, the competition regulator had threatened to force BMI Healthcare to sell the seven hospitals. However, in the Final Report that threat has been dropped, guaranteeing the future of BMI The Highfield Hospital.
Marge Falconer, Executive Director of BMI The Highfield Hospital, said: “The threat that has been hanging over us since January has now been lifted which has delighted staff, our consultant colleagues and the local community who use our services. We can now look forward in the knowledge that we can focus single-mindedly on what matters – providing our patients with the best possible care.”
