Trufab staff to take part in the Three Peaks challenge for The Christie

Date published: 18 February 2014

Staff from Trufab in Rochdale will be taking part in the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for The Christie.

14 members of staff will be taking part in the challenge on Saturday 7 June and Sunday 8 June 2014, which will see them scale the highest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales.

The mountains the teams will be climbing are Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales. The team has 24 hours to complete the challenge.

Team member and General Manager at Trufab, Kevin Jewell, said: “We have done this challenge twice before and we all rather enjoyed it so thought we would do it again.”

The team is taking part to raise money for The Christie.

Kevin said: “We have done it for a number of other charities before and just thought we would do it for The Christie this time around.”

Training has already begun for the challenge with Kevin and his team members hoping to do a few months worth of training before the challenge itself.

Kevin added: “You have to do a good few months worth of training before you start the challenge so we started training at the start of February.”

Throughout the challenge, it is estimated that the team will walk a total of 42 kilometres with a total ascent of 9,800 feet.

The team currently don’t have a fund raising total in mind but would be happy to raise anything between £1,500 and £2,500 for their chosen charity.

“You never know how the fund raising is going until a few weeks before when you start to see it all coming in but we would be really happy with anything between £1,500 and £2,500,” said Kevin.
