Chamber Launches Late Payment Survey
Just before Christmas the government launched “Building a Responsible Payment Culture”, a 24 question consultation on all issues around the thorny subject of late payment.
For a number of years this issue has dominated the business landscape as time and again various proposals have been made to resolve what seems a simple issue but has become increasingly difficult to work through.
The consultation seeks to inform “what government, business and other stakeholders can do to build an environment where businesses treat their suppliers fairly." It continues by seeking views on:
• Changing business culture and enhancing accountability and transparency
• Encouraging businesses’ use of statutory rights and whether to enhance them
• How to empower small businesses to help themselves
The Chamber has identified core areas that members have expressed most concern about in the past and focused on these areas for feed back to government.
With an extremely short deadline of 31/1/14 it is important that businesses complete the survey so that their views can be accurately presented to government.
The Chamber will keep a watching brief on this issue as well as for any results from the consultation.
