Mayor wants to leave apprenticeships legacy

Date published: 04 October 2013

Farrel Ltd, who are based on Queensway in Rochdale, recruit apprentices on a yearly basis and currently have 14 apprentices as part of the workforce. Training of apprentices is  provided by Rochdale Training, a leading training provider in engineering.

Councillor Mayor Peter Rush who recently visited the Farrel’s site said: “During my time as Mayor, I want to leave a legacy surrounding apprenticeships. I want to promote apprenticeships and support businesses who invest their time in young people and apprentices.”

Director, Paul Lloyd said: “This business offers the best all round training and development to its colleagues. Investment is continual and open for a life time career.

"I have personally valued from this investment having started as an apprentice and now a director reporting to the CEO.”

Farrel’s say many apprentices stay throughout most, if not all of their career. Many of the senior management team came into the business as apprentices and have developed into leading roles. Every apprentice has the same opportunity to develop and together with the appropriate personal commitment and support can achieve the same.

The company has been based in Rochdale for more than 100 years. Since 1900, the team have been at the forefront of developments and innovations, manufacturing products for the world’s most demanding tire and rubber companies.

Farrel Ltd has been put forward for Apprentice Employer of the year at the 2013 Rochdale Business Awards.
