The next Oldham and Rochdale Construction Section Networking Event takes place on September 18. The aim of these events is to help businesses benefit from construction opportunities in their area. This month's event will look at the opportunities available at the Airport City development and give an update on First Choice Homes Oldham's new headquaters. Are you a great British Manufacturer?

Manchester-based packaging manufacturer Duo UK (pictured) is on the lookout for local manufacturers to step forward and take part in a campaign that raises awareness of the great products manufactured in Britain. The Buy British campaign aims to encourage individuals and businesses to support local industry by Buying British where commercially viable. If you want to get involved, send your contact details to Gemma at duo@lucre.co.uk with a short note including your business name, where you are based and what you produce. The final deadline for entries is Friday 20 September. 

Meet the buyer

Leading construction company Cruden has been selected to construct 36 new homes by the Trafford Housing Trust. Cruden is holding a 'Meet the Buyer' event in Old Trafford on 19 September for local businesses interested in taking part in the project. UKTI Focuses on USA

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is holding two events about trading with the USA this month. The first event, 'Create the Connection in USA', is at Manchester Art Gallery on September 24. This will be followed by 'Making Energy Pay in the USA' at The Studio, 51 Lever Street, Manchester on September 25. 

Businesses Urged to get a slice of the action

Businesses across England are being urged to apply for funding from the next round of the Regional Growth Fund, which formally opens in October. Round Five will be focused entirely on private enterprise projects that can generate significant private sector investment and create sustainable jobs. 

Get tickets for Star Studded Launch at Band on the Wall

Band on the Wall, the legendary and award-winning Manchester live music venue, will be launching its new Foundation with an exclusive event hosted by David Gest (I'm a Celebrity etc) and featuring performances by Rose Royce's Gwen Dickey (Wishing on a Star, Car Wash) and Aswad's Brinsley Forde (Don't Turn Around). Band on the Wall is targeting company executives and business leaders, as it hopes to raise real cash through corporate funding and sponsorship to support the Foundation. The event takes place on Thursday 26 September. Tickets are very limited, but if you would like to register your interest email fundraising@bandonthewall.org by Monday 16 September. 

Inspiring Entrepreneurs and Marketing Maestros

Manchester Libraries is hosting a free event for local businesses this month in partnership with the British Library and Barclays. 'Inspiring Entrepreneurs: Marketing Maestros' will feature a panel discussion streamed live from the British Library. The panel members will include Jo Fairley, co-founder of Green & Black's; Will King of King of Shaves; and Laura Tenison, founder of JoJo Maman Bébé. The event takes place on Monday 16 September at the National Football Museum, between 5.45pm and 9pm. 

Celebrity Sports Quiz Returns to Manchester

The Bobby Moore Fund Manchester Celebrity Sports Quiz returns to the Palace Hotel, Manchester, on Friday 7 March 2014. All the money raised will go towards funding the new Manchester Cancer Research Centre. You will enjoy a unique corporate event offering the chance to mingle with sporting celebrities, enjoy a delicious three-course meal and take part in a high-energy, interactive sports quiz hosted by broadcasting icons such as Clare Balding (pictured). Chamber members can take advantage of an early booking discount and get a team table of 10 places for £1,125 (which is 10% off or 10 places for the price of nine). Free Road Safety Events

Brake, the road safety charity, is running a series of free and low-cost events aimed specifically at small businesses. These events will raise awareness of the risks associated with at-work driving, aiming to encourage and enable small businesses to address those risks. A guidance report will be produced and distributed to all attendees after the events. The next event will be a webinar on December 12. This will be followed by events in January and February.
