EEF NW comment on PMI data

Date published: 01 August 2013

Commenting on today’s PMI data, David Ost, EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation North West Region Director, said: “The good news continues to roll in for UK manufacturing with most markets, including the domestic one, supporting new orders whilst improving activity is now evident across all sub-sectors.

"And with signs of recruitment picking up too, there isn’t much in the way of negative news in today’s survey. Coming on the back of a pick-up in output in the second quarter and, some signs of life in European markets, risks seem to be abating. There are now more reasons to be confident that manufacturing will make a more positive contribution to growth through the rest of the year.”
