Rochdale’s reputation as a great place to invest spans Europe

Date published: 27 June 2013

Property agents who work to promote the borough to potential investors have met to discuss how to maintain Rochdale’s reputation as an investment hot spot.

Rochdale Development Agency, which has worked alongside the agents to deliver more than four million square feet of property deals in the last two years, brought the agents together at a meeting at Number One Riverside.

Agents from Davies Harrison, G V A Grimley, Jones Lang LaSalle, Morris Dean, Nolan Redshaw, P3 Property Consultants, Preston O’Herlihy, B8 real Estate and Colliers International said that thanks to its great location close to the M62 and within an hour’s drive of Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds and their airports, Rochdale was established across the UK and in Europe as a great place to invest.

Brendan O’Herlihy of Preston O’Herlihy Property Consultants said: “Rochdale should be very proud of what has been achieved in this difficult economic climate. Continuing to attract investors and create jobs is fantastic for the borough, and RDA and the Council should be congratulated.”

The meeting discussed how the borough could be better promoted as a place to invest and how to best raise awareness of the numerous business parks it has based along the M62.

“Our agents are the people out in the field and it’s vital that we know if they think we could be doing things differently, but also what the perception of Rochdale is across the UK and beyond as a place to do business,” said John Hudson, Rochdale Development Agency Chief Executive.

“They told us that Rochdale did have a good reputation as a place to invest so we needed to keep on doing what we’re doing but shout even more loudly about our success.

"We are pleased with our recent track record when it comes to attracting major investors but there is much still to do if we are to maintain the momentum of recent years. I’m confident that working with the Council, agents and business leaders we will maintain the momentum of recent years.”
