Rochdale architects shortlisted for award

Date published: 09 November 2011

Rochdale based architects, CJ Partnership have been shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards 2011, for their design of The Pavilion Restaurant.

The restaurant, at Birtle Brook, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Restaurant/Bar design’ category.

The Pavilion was designed by CJ Partnership as part of the Birtle Brook Retirement Village. It was initially envisaged to be a refreshments area for guests using the bowling green, but was expanded.

Paul Clark of CJ Partnership, said he is “pretty chuffed” that The Pavilion has made the shortlist.

He added: “It isn’t often that places in Rochdale are recognised on, an almost, semi-national stage.”

The Pavilion opened at Christmas 2010.

The ground level of the building houses a bar, reception and dining rooms and on the first floor there is a mezzanine area and an external deck.

Mr Clark added: “I love what I do and it is nice to be recognised – if we won it would be even better.”

The winner of the award will be announced at a ceremony on 24 November.
