Bookies plan town centre move

Date published: 04 January 2010

Irish bookmakers Paddy Power have applied to open a new shop in Rochdale town centre.

They are proposing to take over the vacant property at 15 Yorkshire Street, formerly the HFC bank.

All of the major national bookmakers chains would have a presence in Rochdale town centre if the move is successful, with the Fred Done shop located just two doors away from the proposed site on Yorkshire Street.

The deadline for public responses to the application is 20 January and a decision will be made by Rochdale Council’s licensing committee shortly afterwards.
