River Island boost for Rochdale Exchange

Date published: 24 August 2009

River Island are set to move into the Rochdale Exchange shopping centre in October.

The large fashion chain is moving out of its Yorkshire Street store on Saturday 3 October and into the former JJB unit the following weekend.

River Island will be recruiting more staff as a result of the move into a bigger store.

The new shop will also supply men's fashion, which the current Yorkshire Street unit does not provide, as well as a wider range of women's items.

Lorenzo O'Reilly, manager of the Exchange, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming River Island into the Rochdale Exchange.

"This is the first of a number of new lettings which are currently being negotiated. We have been working very hard to bring new stores into the Centre’s vacant units and now we are beginning to get some results.

"Our consumer research shows that our customers want to see more top fashion brands in the Centre and River Island really does tick that box. Another plus is that the new store will stock men’s fashion.

"Over the next few weeks, I am confident that there will be more good news to pass on about what’s happening in the Rochdale Exchange.”
