Town Centre Management celebrates achievements

Date published: 06 August 2009

Rochdale Town Centre Management hailed a successful year at their Annual General Meeting this morning (Thursday 6 August).

During the year, the company, which acts as a catalyst between Rochdale Council and town centre businesses, held a number of events in the town centre, including the increasingly popular Feel Good Festival.

Councillor Greg Couzens, Chairman of Rochdale TCM, said: “This year’s accounts and achievements have really shown what partnership working can deliver. There have been some fantastic projects delivered in the last financial year and the board is really going from strength to strength. This year RTCM will build upon these achievements working even closer with partners to deliver even greater and more sustainable projects.”

As well as the popular Feel Good Festival, Rochdale Town Centre Management also hosted the Christmas Lights Switch-On, with popular TV character Dora the Explorer, which attracted several thousand people to the town centre. This was followed by a Christmas Reindeer Parade, which the Management company is hoping to repeat this year.

The town centre's annual Business Awards enjoyed another successful year and Rochdale TCM have now been asked to develop and deliver a programme of the awards for the whole of Greater Manchester, together with a complete training package for participants after the award ceremony.

The team are running their Best Bar None initiative again this year after more than 50% of town centre premises took part in the inaugural scheme. As a result of this TCM have secured funding to deliver courses on drug awareness, conflict management and staff induction to licensees who participated in the scheme last year.

Town Centre Management has been keeping people up to date over the past year with a regular column on Rochdale Online, which the company believes has been very successful and well received by local businesses. Meanwhile Rochdale Online launched the TCM Website earlier this year at www.rochdaletowncentre.co.uk.
