Apprenticeship open evening a chance to enhance career prospects

Date published: 27 April 2009

School leavers can enhance their career prospects at an apprenticeship open evening this week.

The event will be held at Rochdale Training in Fishwick Street on Thursday (30 April) from 4pm to 7pm.

School leavers and their parents can find out more about apprenticeships, which provide a full-time job, a wage, professional training and career prospects with a local company.

Attendance is free and many local employers along with training staff will be available to answer all questions.

Rochdale Training has provided apprenticeships locally for more than 40 years. The not-for-profit company offers apprenticeships to 16–24 year olds in a range of subjects covering office, manufacturing and trade skills including business administration, IT, customer services, engineering and plumbing.

Local employers that have worked with Rochdale Training apprentices include Rochdale Council, Carcraft, Holroyds, Trufab, Farrels and Dunphys.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Training said: "We want all our apprentices to have long successful careers and work hard to ensure we place the apprentice with the most suitable local employer. To do this, all applicants are tested and interviewed to ensure their strengths, interests, drive and personality are fully understood in order to make the best apprentice-employer match."
