What's Your Beef set down roots at Northern Quarter retro gaming and sports bar

Date published: 11 November 2022

A local street food catering duo have set down permanent roots at a new retro gaming and sports bar in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Rochdale men Neil Standring and Eddie Pope – better known as 'What’s Your Beef' – will be running the kitchen at Calcio!.

Neil said: “It all came together really quickly, in under six months. Burgers, sports and games go hand in hand!”

Calcio! joins the likes of Pixel and NQ64, in offering retro Playstation and Sega games, but will also feature classic football matches as well as live games.

What’s Your Beef was born in December 2014, through Eddie and Neil’s mutual love of burgers. After seeing a growing trend for street food in the south, they seized the opportunity to bring something new to their hometown.

Since then, What’s Your Beef has become a recognised Rochdale name, catering many public events across the UK, including Rochdale’s Food and Drink Festival and the Feel Good Festival.

They will also be opening a venue at the Stretford Foodhalls in early December, and already operate out of the Sale Foodhall.

Neil has confirmed that they will still cater events as “that’s where we started and it’s important to us.”

He added: “We have a very good events diary.”

Calcio! opens its doors this evening (11 November).
