Littleborough’s renowned Green Door Restaurant will not be reopening its doors

Littleborough’s renowned Green Door Restaurant will not be reopening its doors.

After more than nine years in business, the owners of the award-winning restaurant have said that it will remain closed due to the impact Covid has had on hospitality.

In a statement on social media, Graham and Alison Sherwin said: “It is with a heavy heart that we write this post.

“The Green Door restaurant will remain permanently closed. Covid social distancing has reduced restaurant capacity significantly; we also have no outdoor seating area to compensate the loss indoors. This has had a massive impact on the business.

“We have already contacted the majority of customers with reservations this week and are in the process of trying to reach all personally.

“We would like to thank our customers for giving us a fabulous nine years with many happy memories to cherish.”

Alison and Graham have run The Green Door since establishing it in 2012.

In September 2019, The Green Door was awarded a prestigious Good Food Award for the second year running.

The Sherwins will still operate Riva, the Italian restaurant at Hollingworth Lake, and have confirmed they will look at adding the Green Door’s menu to Riva.
