Heywood business UK Glazing Group Ltd is celebrating two years trading this month.
Managing director of the business based at Holland Street; Christopher Barton is a second-generation window installer who started his career at just 15-years-old sweeping factory floors.
A PVCu and aluminium supplier for the commercial market, UK Glazing Group’s journey started back in 2019 when Christopher saw a demand for home improvements.
He opened UK Glazing Group in Heywood just one week before Covid-19 locked everything down back in March 2020, however that did not stop the company from growing strength to strength – investing £100,000 to convert the 3,500 square foot factory into a showroom.
Christopher said: “We had a vision to open a state-of-the-art centre which was needed around Greater Manchester.
“I’m a person who likes to touch and feel products to make that final decision. This said, we invested heavily into achieving this so people can get a good idea seeing a vision and the potential to enjoying their homes in a wider spectrum.”
Christopher describes how he was initially worried about how Covid-19 would affect his business, but ‘almost instantaneously’ the local trader received an order to complete a large project on a beautiful castle in Scotland, known as Fonab Castle.
He added: “Looking back over the year, it’s been a journey not to forget! We are looking forward to opening our factory showroom to the public when restrictions are lifted.
“With people staying more at home it is highlighting that they want to not just enjoy investing into their properties, but enjoy that extra space building with an array of quality products available to them which we can supply.
“We treat each project as if it was our own and cannot wait to see people walking through our doors again, greeting them with a nice cup of tea or coffee.”
