Additional Restrictions Grants pays out almost £900k to local businesses

Almost £900,000 has been paid out in grants to businesses which have had to close as part of the current national lockdown.

As part of the Additional Restrictions Grant, Rochdale Borough Council has paid out 606 grants totalling £890,676 to eligible businesses.

The Additional Restrictions Grant is available for businesses forced to close because of the four-week national lockdown restrictions, from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December, including those who are suppliers to the hospitality and leisure sectors and have been severely impacted by the national lockdown.

Businesses must meet the criteria set out by Government to be eligible, including trading on 22 October 2020, having business premises and not working from home.

Where a business has been legally forced to close but don't have a rateable value and is eligible, a single fixed payment of £1,000 will be made to cover the full four-week period. If a business has more than one qualifying business property, a grant will be paid for each property. 

These grants are not available for loss of income to support wage or employment costs, and businesses must submit your bank statement as part of the application.
