Whitworth’s Red Lion Inn to reopen this weekend

The Red Lion Inn in Whitworth
A well-known Whitworth pub will reopen on Friday (21 February) after being taken over by the Quirky Catering Company.
The Red Lion Inn, in Whitworth Square, has been bought by the team behind a string of popular local venues including the Flying Horse Hotel, Bombay Brew, the Baum and the Hare on the Hill in Littleborough.
The pub had closed in November 2019 before being snapped up by pub landlord Ben Boothman, who – alongside his business partner Craig Richardson – used to play rugby from the Red Lion in the early 2000s.
He said: “We would hate to see yet another community asset fall by the wayside, especially one that Craig and I have such an affinity with.
“What you can expect from the Red Lion is home-cooked food, fine wine and something which is at the heart of all our pubs, quality cask ales served by informative friendly staff.
“We have given the pub a really good clean both inside and out, a lick of paint, some new products on the bar and some minor improvements.”
Food starts this Sunday (23 February) at 12pm with a full-time daily menu starting in spring.
