Can you business help local students become ready for work?
If your business can offer invaluable advice to school students looking to carve their career path, you can help them become ready for the world of work with local events and volunteer roles.
Wardle Academy: speed networking (Year 9 students) – 14 February 2020
- Looking for businesses to talk to small groups of students about their role, industry, pathway.
- Students will rotate between different businesses around every 10 minutes.

Matthew Moss: challenging stereotype lessons (Year 7 students) – March 2020
- Looking for employees to give a careers talk as part of the challenging stereotype lesson(s)

Oulder Hill Community School: careers fair (all year groups) – 12 March 2020 and 18 March 2020
- Looking for local employers to attend their yearly careers fair. Businesses will have a chance to speak to students, and answer questions, about their role and industry.
- In particular, they are looking for businesses who are able to bring an activity for students to do.
- They are also looking for local employers to support their yearly mock interviews with year 10 students.
- Mock interviews are a chance to help prepare their students for the world of work/further education.

Cardinal Langley RC High School: careers fair (all year groups) – 16 and 17 March 2020
- Looking for local employers to attend their yearly careers fair. Businesses will have a chance to speak to students, and answer questions, about their role and industry.
- Parents are also invited to attend the fair.

Enterprise Adviser role
Bridge GM supports over 190 schools and colleges across Greater Manchester to develop forward thinking careers strategies with employer encounters for young people at their heart. They match a business volunteer (Enterprise Adviser) to a local school/college to act as a critical friend, alongside a member of the Bridge GM team, providing strategic guidance to help develop their careers and employer engagement programmes.
With over 170 Enterprise Advisers, Greater Manchester’s Enterprise Adviser Network is one of the largest of its kind in England.
There are currently Enterprise Adviser vacancies within Rochdale. This is an opportunity for you to help create powerful, lasting partnerships between a school and the world of work.

Meet Your Future
Meet Your Future, the Mayor of Greater Manchester’s work shadowing campaign, was launched in April 2019 offering 1,000 work shadowing opportunities to young people across Greater Manchester by July 2020.
Over 500 opportunities have already been taken up. The aim, in a variety of different business environments, is to help young people learn about different roles and careers and to gain first-hand industry experience.
Businesses can support by either offering a workplace safari (11-19-year-olds) or work shadowing (16-19-year-olds).
