You’re hired: apprentice wows employers

Date published: 02 October 2019

An apprentice at IT specialists, Evaris, based in Heywood has passed a Level 4 apprenticeship with a distinction - at his first attempt.

Lewis Davey, 25, completed the Networking Engineering apprenticeship this month after working for two and a half years towards the qualification.

He said: “I’m over the moon that I’ve passed with a distinction on my first try. I couldn’t have done it without my colleagues at Evaris, who made themselves available to me and helped expand my skillset since I started here in January 2016.”

The learning provider, QA are now using Lewis’s portfolio as a case study, as he is the first apprentice to complete the programme with no pushbacks.

The Level 4 apprenticeship consisted of hands-on experience, exams, a portfolio of work and a final end-point assessment.

Robert Gibbons, Head of Managed Services at Evaris, said: “It has been an enjoyable journey to watch Lewis and see the results of him working so hard. His tenacity in wanting perfection shines through everything he does, and I can’t wait to see what he does next as a valid member of the business”.

Lewis is focused on what he wants to do to further his career in the IT industry.

“I’ll be studying for my vendor qualifications which will help me specialise in a particular product or area of IT Support. Evaris are happy to support me in whatever path I choose,” Lewis added.
