Revilo Group employees look to land knockout blow for charity

Oliver and Mariam have signed up for the ‘Ultra White-Collar Boxing’ challenge on Saturday 21 September
Two have-a-go employees from the Rochdale-based Revilo Group – Mariam Aslam Digger and Oliver Collins – are about to swap the cosy comfort of their offices on Bridgefold Road for the potential perils of the boxing ring later this month.
Head of Marketing Mariam and Client Advisor Oliver have signed up for the ‘Ultra White-Collar Boxing’ challenge.
Mariam and Oliver are part-way through an intense eight-week training camp leading up to their eagerly anticipated ‘fight-night’ in Manchester on Saturday 21 September.
After losing financial director and dear colleague John Kerr to cancer earlier this year, the duo have already raised close on an incredible £1,000 for Cancer Research UK and now can’t wait to test themselves on the big stage.
Mariam said: “Having been personally affected, I didn’t need much persuading, however I was blissfully unaware of how tough the training camp would be.
“It’s all for a good cause though, plus an excuse to get fit and out of my comfort zone. That said, I’m not sure how I’ll feel if I’m staring up at the lights after 30 seconds.”
Oliver added: “I’ve always thought I was quite fit until the start of the training. It has stepped it up to another level. I’m not sure even training will prepare me for the feeling of fight night though - I’m just hoping to see out my three rounds.”
Revilo chief executive Lee Collins added his support, joking: “I did suggest that we could all smack them over their heads for charity. But in all seriousness, we are proud to support and encourage their journey.”
He continued: “To have two members of the Revilo family take on such a feat, not only in John’s memory, but for their own personal reasons, is commendable. It embodies our core values and we are proud to support and encourage their journey.”
Revilo Group specialise in several business sectors from automotive sales to property development, right through to insurance and estate agency.
