Castleton hairdressing company Chichi has moved to new premises after a recent wave of village break-ins made them feel unsafe.
Owner Gemma Wilkinson said she was left in a state of shock after a being targeted as part of a string of burglaries:
Now the salon has moved to a 'more secure' location in a different part of Manchester Road, and Gemma is calling on the police to find the burglars before they cause more havoc in the area.
She said: “Of course I know it wasn’t just our place that was targeted, but I’m taking a stand and asking the police to do as much as they can to catch the people responsible, because obviously they keep coming back for more.”
Other Castleton businesses have been targeted, including The Old Post Office Ale House, the Co-op, and an allotment on Heywood Road.
Gemma added: “We are happy in our new place, with higher security, but it shouldn’t be like this. We live in a good village and whoever has been causing the burglaries is not welcome here.”
Castleton Councillor Billy Sheerin has said that he is “disgusted” with the recent break ins and has been in meetings with police to try and work together on the matter.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
