Prestige Building Supplies expanding

Date published: 29 March 2016

Prestige Building Supplies is celebrating five years of trading by expanding its premises and re-opening its doors to the public.

Based at Ensor Mill, Queensway, the business has created six new jobs and will re-open on 1 April following the completion of a refurbishment.

Martin Foulds, MD at Prestige, said: “Business is good for us and we are continuing to grow. We are creating jobs and it’s really exciting. It’s all because we are focused on excellent customer service within the community.

“We will have been trading for five years in April and there’s no better way than celebrating than with our loyal tradespeople.”

The Prestige Trade counter will offer big brands at competitive prices, as well as outstanding customer service and excellent trade-related advice.

Mr Foulds added: “Rochdale is well known for its textile industries including cotton, silk and wool - and here at Prestige we want to put building materials on the map.”

Last year, DIY giant B&Q announced their Rochdale shop will close by April 2017 and that 75 staff at the store face losing job or being redeployed

Ahead of the Rochdale B&Q closure, Mr Foulds aims to grow Prestige and serve the local community.

Councillor James Gartside, Rochdale Borough Council Shadow spokesperson for Business, Skills and Employment, said: “I am really pleased that Prestige is growing and that the business is to stay in Rochdale despite growth.

“It’s important that employment stays local, whether it’s young apprentices or older workers, it’s briliant news.”
