Lords of Middleton crowned Butcher Shop of the Month

Date published: 14 March 2016

Lords of Middleton has been crowned Butcher Shop of the Month by Essential Cuisine.

Essential Cuisine’s Head of Retail, Jeremy Palmer, explains the reasoning behind their choice: “At Essential Cuisine, we pride ourselves on working in collaboration with only the best local farm shops and butcher shops, who supply locally sourced produce that compliments Essential Cuisine’s product range so well.

"This month we’re delighted to award Lords of Middleton with the title of ‘Butcher Shop of the Month’ due to their ongoing commitment to providing the Middleton community with fresh local meat that can be traced back to the farm it was reared on.”

Andrew Lord said: "We pride ourselves on great service and a great rapport with our customers.

"We often visit local schools and offer talks on the tradition of butchering. It’s amazing just how many kids know of our shop and that’s such a satisfying feeling – we must be doing something right."

Lords of Middleton was founded in 1893 by Fred Lord, who had previously worked in the famous Argenta’s Butchers Shop. Fred was the Great Grandfather of the current owners. He passed the shop onto his sons David and Andrew Lord before it was passed on to Charlie Lord and then to Peter Lord. Now in its fifth generation through the latest apprentice, another son has been welcomed into the business, Jack Lord.
