Positive Steps: Careers Advice for young people in Rochdale
Positive Steps has been placed at number 29 in ‘The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For’ list 2016 - the annual ranking of the cream of Britain's happy and motivated workforces. One of only two organisations from Greater Manchester in the top 30.
Positive Steps works to reduce youth offending and re-offending, supports families, works with young carers and provides career guidance across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside.
Best Companies have been producing the 'Best Companies to Work For' lists since 2001 - to measure and acknowledge excellence in workplace engagement. Each year hundreds of organisations from a wide range of industries use this employee survey to measure the engagement of their employees. The responses from these surveys are collated and combined to produce an overall engagement score for each organisation. This annual ranking is now a highly anticipated event in the business calendar.
Chief Executive Steph Bolshaw said: “We performed strongly across the board, but what makes us stand out is how proud our people are to work for Positive Steps. This is an amazing achievement and I am delighted that Positive Steps has been recognised in this way, and we are incredibly proud of all our staff for getting us here. It’s their talent, ingenuity, energy and innovation that makes this Charity a truly inspirational and excellent place to work.”
All the scores and ratings that are assessed to compile the lists are based on employee opinions, and each year the questionnaires are revised and updated to reflect current workplace concerns.
More than 1,050 businesses and organisations registered to take part in four surveys. The leading 325 are recognised in four categories:
The 100 Best Companies to Work For are firms in the 250-3,500 employee range.
The 25 Best Big Companies to Work For, each have 3,500-plus in the workforce.
SMEs (50 to 250 staff) are assessed in The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For.
Public-sector bodies, charities and housing associations are recognised in 100 Best Not-forProfit Organisations to Work For.
