Quat-Chem and Precision Technologies Group praised for strong China links at UKTI award ceremony
Date published: 22 February 2016
Rochdale based Quat-Chem and Precision Technologies Group have been honoured for their commitment to supporting business links with Greater China.
The winner in the Greater China Business award was Rochdale based high precision machine tool design, build and supply company Precision Technologies Group – 98% of its turnover comes from export sales, with over 70% destined for China. This success is maintained by strong links with UK universities, a dedicated China support team, and regular personnel exchanges with its joint venture in China.
Rochdale based Quat-Chem, a chemical manufacturer specialising in industrial biocides and preventive hygiene technologies, was named the Rising Star winner in recognition of its flexible and carefully considered approach to entering the Chinese market which resulted in significant sales in 2015/16 and forecasts for 2016/17.
Dr Rubinah Chowdhary, Scientific Director at Quat-Chem said: “There is a lot of excitement about China at Quat-Chem. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the year of the Monkey, as we are working hard to fulfil a substantial order from China. This was a significant milestone for us, as we have spent considerable time in China building important relationships, laying the foundations for growth, and in the process, delighting in the experience of seeing a fascinating age-old culture adapt itself to the China of today.
"Winning recognition from UKTI for our success in China reinforces our hopes for Quat-Chem’s future in China.”
UK Trade & Investment’s (UKTI) 11th Annual Greater China Awards took place at The Lowry in Salford, and allowed guests the perfect opportunity to celebrate the Chinese New Year in the year of the Monkey.
The awards, sponsored by Cathay Pacific, CIMA, Koehler Group and Orangfield Group, consist of four categories; the Recognition award, the Education Links award, the Rising Star award, and the Business award. The Greater China Awards form part of the government’s Exporting is GREAT campaign, which aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020.
Launched in November 2015, the Exporting is GREAT initiative will run for five years and is designed to empower UK SMEs to take advantage of the global appetite for British products, skills and expertise in markets around the world. In partnership with major British businesses, the programme will support companies at every stage of their exporting journey – from identifying opportunities to winning contracts overseas.
