A celebration of rowing!

The Great British Rowing Weekend comes to Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club in 2024.

On the 8th September 2024, Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club will be opening its doors to our local communities following a successful junior and 30 + age groups sessions in 2024,  we are now looking to promote the following age group 18 to 30 years.

As the summer Olympic Games once again turn the nation’s eyes to our sport, people up and down the country will have the chance to see what makes rowing so special.

On the 8th September, Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club will be joining rowing clubs around the country and hosting a day of activities to showcase the best of rowing, from give it a go sessions to round robins, indoor rowing competitions and more.

Why rowing?

Whether you want to keep fit, escape into nature or meet lifelong friends, rowing has something for everyone. A low-impact sport, rowing works over 85% of your body’s muscles, and is accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

Rowing is also a very social sport - rowing clubs provide a ready-made community where you can meet new people with shared interests. Most clubs offer both competitive and recreational opportunities to enjoy rowing - so whether it’s the thrill of the race you love or the peace of the river you’re after, give rowing a go!

About Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club.

Established in 1872, now over 150 years old, Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club has been home to Olympians and World Champions. For the newbies we have stable quads for you to learn how to row like the professionals before getting into competitive or recreational crews.

Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club is also host to one of the largest one day regattas in the country with some 450 crews attending the recent North of England Sprint Rowing Championships held on Hollingworth Lake on the 31st August.2024.
