Michelle Spencer is holding a fun day to raise funds for the national charity, Mesothelioma UK. Michelle, who was diagnosed with mesothelioma, aged 60 will be hosting the event along with her friends and family.
At the event, there will be a variety of stalls, exciting activities for children, and plenty of entertainment including a bar, pool tables, darts and table tennis.
People can indulge in delicious treats - coffee and cake for just £5, or savour a buffet, burger or hot dogs with chips for the kids, also priced at £5. The day will also feature a tombola, face painting and an auction offering a fantastic array of prizes.
Michelle said: “There is a tragic coincidence of getting exposed to asbestos in Rochdale, also home to Nellie Kershaw, who was the first published account of the disease now attributed to occupational asbestos exposure.
“After I was diagnosed, I now tell everybody about mesothelioma so that they all know about the dangers. I don’t want sympathy and am now always looking at how I can enjoy and extend my life. That’s why I want to help Mesothelioma UK to raise awareness of the disease and why we’re organising a fundraising event. It’s given me a focus.”
