Salary: £14,976 to £26,769.60 a year £6.40 per hour Per Year

Full Time
Location: NYE BEVAN HOUSE MACLURE ROAD ROCHDALE OL11 1DN
Hours: 5 days a week, across Monday – Friday 8.00am-5pm. Hours may change due to the nature of the business. Total hours per week: 45 hours a week

Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a friendly image to patients and visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Taking the post at the end of the shift, taking messages, retrieving medical records
  • Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
  • Registering patients
  • Updating computer systems, summarising medical records using the correct read codes
  • Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationary and other supplies
  • Dealing with clinical waste, providing refreshments for staff and visitors, keeping the kitchen area tidy as well as the kitchen area
  • Scanning letters onto the clinical system
  • Supporting the nursing team in quality outcomes framework
  • Cleaning and restoking consulting room
  • Alert other team members to issues of quality and risks, assess own performance and take accountability for your own actions.
  • Undertaking a variety of administration duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training will take place on-site and be completed by Rochdale Training.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This position could lead to a full-time role.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English (Grade 4) desirable
  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4) desirable
