Matthew Moss Taekwondo Academy medal success

Matthew Moss High School Taekwondo Academy students walked away with a gold medal, four silver medals and two bronze medals after competing in a full contact taekwondo tournament in Nottingham.

  • Telmo Fortes won gold
  • Faisal Razaq won silver
  • Saghir Ali won silver
  • Rehan Igbal won silver
  • Rohail Hamza won silver
  • Muntazir Mehdi won bronze
  • Huseyn Mikayilov won bronze

Atif Bux and Mikayil Mikayilov did not make it to the medals.

The students were taking part in their first tournament and competing against international teams, including some from Australia, India and Gibraltar as well as some Team GB fighters.

After their success at this tournament, the academy hopes to compete in five more national competitions before becoming ambassadors of the school by competing in Rotterdam.

The team has been tested before and has competed in different sparring situations in Manchester and Bradford.

A spokesperson for the Academy said: “This new generation of athletes have put their heart and soul into every training, sparring and gym sessions set by a very demanding task master.”

Phil Schofield (former MMHS TKD Champion) helped coach and motivate the team.
