Swarm Head South

Skolars Tag Rugby League
The Swarm took the long road South at the weekend to play the London Skolars Tag Rugby League side as part of the build up to the Skolars V Hornets fixture later the same day.
In what was another first for the Swarm and Tag Rugby they became the only Northern team to travel down to play Tag Rugby League in the Capital.
The game itself was played at the New River Sports Centre, home of the London Skolars. The match kicked off with the Swarm showing no signs of the long journey South with the Rochdale side taking a two try lead early on thanks to Emily Wynn and Dave Tyson.
The Skolars rallied mainly through their main play maker, who would have represented Queensland, Australia at Tag Rugby last year. His skill and evasive quality would prove to be the difference between the two sides all afternoon, as he pressed home the advantage for the Skolars
Not to be out done though the Swarm produced the try of the game as fine inter-passing between Emily Wynn and Matty Fellows down the left wing saw Fellows chalk up the first of his Two tries.
Both teams exchanged tries in the run up to half time to give a half time advantage to the Skolars of 8-6.
Into the second half and the Swarm started brightly with good runs from Huddersfield based Sarah Tait and Gaynor Ramsbottom but the well drill structure of the Skolars outfit proved hard to crack.
The Skolars started to pull away in the game but not before Chris Mansfield had pulled off the Tag of the match with a fine chase back and dive to stop a certain try.
The match finished with an 18-10 victory to the Londoners but both sides had a superb day with the Skolars putting on a post game BBQ for the travelling Swarm team.
The Swarm and Skolars also discussed future Festivals and Lessons learned from the Rochdale International Festival earlier in the year. The Skolars are now to host a Festival on the 30 August with an incredible £2000 first prize for the winning team.
The Swarms next Fixture is Saturday 25 July in a festival in Huddersfied, all Swarm players are asked to meet at 9.45 at Firgrove Working Mens Club.
