Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club coming ashore
The sunny and mild conditions at the Lake on Sunday 13 November suited young Jasper Bramwell. He won the first and third races in his Topper. However, the racing was much closer than this might imply.
Richard and Heather Marsh with their higher performance RS400 would always be ahead but finished fourth in the first race, though less than 20 seconds behind Martin Brennan, in his Solo after the handicap correction. In third place was Mike Smith, also in a Solo. The moderate easterly wind provided good tactical racing.
The fog hanging around Blackstone Edge threatened to come towards the lake in the second race, but changed the wind into patches that left some confused. Brennan was best able to cope and took the win, followed by the Marshes, and by Bramwell. Ryan Richards, in a Laser, took fourth place, while tLauren Marsh and Millie Hayfield, in a colourful RS Feva, were fifth at the finish.
The wind recovered for the third race, as the sun shone still. With Jasper Bramwell winning, it was again Brennan as runner-up and the Marsh pair in third place. The clouds did advance closer this time.
