Rugby League: Mayfield must win

Date published: 09 August 2018

Last week’s shock defeat at Wigan St Pats has placed more importance on Saturday’s game for Mayfield as they entertain Kells at the Mayfield sports centre in the Kingstone Press NCL Premier Division.

Just two weeks ago Mayfield produced a superb performance to beat Kells on their own ground and were favourites to beat Pats last week.

The game will see a strong Mayfield side go into battle with the Cumbrians hoping to recapture the form from their last game.

A win would Mayfield them leapfrog the opposition in the league and if results go to form could see them climb two places with Normanton facing unbeaten league leaders Hunslet Parkside.

With four games to play there are eight points up for grabs and a win would go a long way to securing their Premier Dvision status.

The Mayfield NWML team travel to play at Halton Simms cross in the inaugural NWML nines competition. With all league sides entered into the competition, the leading teams will converge on the Mayfield Sports Centre next week for what promises to be a fantastic finals day.
