A member of Rochdale’s Walking Football Club has been invited to attend trials for England’s Walking Football team.
David Brooks, who plays for the Rochdale Strollers, is hoping to break into the over-60s national team.
He faces stern competition from Tommy Charlton, brother of England World Cup winners Sir Bobby and Jack, and former Liverpool player Alan Kennedy attending the trials to be held at Burnley this weekend.
The Rochdale AFC Strollers won the Greater Manchester Walking Football League Division One in December, and also won two one-day events last year.
