Smithy Bridge Primary School win Tag Rugby Competition
Smithy Bridge Primary School won the Manchester Schools Games Tag Rugby Competition, which took place at Broughton Park Rugby Club.
The team had a great day which started at the athletics stadium with radio presenters from Key 103 making the Opening Ceremony a fun occasion.
Smithy Bridge won their morning games which were organised as a Round Robin Competition, this meant they progressed into the winners group playing the strongest teams, coming out of it victorious and achieving first position out of 20 teams.
The team has received coaching assistance from both Mrs Bennetta and Mr Deacon who are involved with Littleborough Rugby Club.
Smithy Bridge children of different ages have also benefitted from RFU Coach Aaron Haworth who has been taking sessions in school last half term.
Mrs George, the head teacher of Smithy Bridge Primary School is delighted by the children’s success and the popularity of the sport in the school.
Smithy Bridge are also very proud of their Kurling team who were also successful at the Manchester Games achieving third position and winning a bronze medal.
