Rochdale Premier Cricket League Round Up

Three teams, Max XI, RYCC and Stoney Stars, are fighting for top spot in the Rochdale Premier Cricket League.
The first match of this weekend was between Rochdalians and Unique. Unique won the toss and elected to bat. It was a very confident start as the first ball of the match went for six. Irfan from Rochdalians responded well and took his first wicket with the third ball. Unique made 131 runs in their eight overs with excellent batting displays from Mo 33 runs (not out), Noman 30 runs (not out) and Faridi 21 runs.
Rochdalians only managed to score 102 runs and lost the match by 29 runs. Good hitting from Hamid 36 runs (not out), captain Malik 33 and Khan 12 could not save them from the defeat. Excellent bowling from Gufran (2 wickets for 10 runs) and Noman (1 wicket for 13 runs) won the game for Unique and Noman was declared man of the match.
The second match of the day was between RYCC and Young Muslims. Young Muslims won the toss and invited RYCC to bat. RYCC showed their class and made 150 runs from their allocated overs with excellent batting displays from Shakeel 30 runs (not out), Iqbal 29, Siddque 30 runs (not out) and Qaiser 34 runs (not out).
A confident start from Young Muslims saw them score 25 runs in the first two overs but with good bowling from Shakeel (2 wickets for 24 runs), Sidqque (2 wickets for 6 runs) and Quyyom (1 wicket for 5 runs) Young Muslims were reduced to 106 runs all out.
Young Muslims lost the match by 44 runs. Sidqque from RYCC was declared Man of the Match for his 30 runs and 2 wickets for 6 runs.
The next match was between Baba XI and Max XI. Batting first Baba XI scored 96 runs with good batting displays from Tayab 32 runs (not out) and Shahid 24 runs. Excellent bowling from Zahir (3 wickets for 8 runs) kept Baba XI contained.
In response Max XI won the match with three overs to spare, with excellent batting by Rashid 27 runs (not out) and Sultan 24 runs (not out). Baba XI were unable to control extras and gave away 31 runs in no balls and wides. Rashid from Max XI was Man of the Match.
The fourth game of the day was between Stoney Stars and Lahore Greens. Stoney Stars batted first and made 173 runs, another highest total in the league. Again there was excellent batting from Sajid 31 runs (not out), Wasim 33 runs (not out), Shakir 31 runs (not out) and Rauf 25 runs. Batting second Lahore Greens could only score 93 runs, losing 4 wickets. Their main contributors were Kamran 30 runs (not out) and Tariq 20 runs (not out). Stoney Stars won the match by 83 runs. Rauf was declared Man of the Match for his 25 runs and 1 wicket.
The last game of the day was between All Star and Suli XI. All Star batted first and made 128 runs with good batting from Abdul 30 runs (not out), Bukhari 30 runs (not out) and Asif 24 runs (not out). Suli XI could only score 98, losing the game by 30 runs. Good late hitting from Amir 29 runs (not out) and Akeel 18 runs could not save them from defeat. Bukhari was man of the match scoring 30 runs and taking 1 wicket.
Mr Ghulam Rasool Shahzad & Mr M Azhaar were chief guests of the day. Players were introduced to both of the guests and they also presented medals to Man of the Match winners. Both guests praised the organisers Abdul Quyyom and Mohammed Siddique for organising the league and sporting activities for young people.
Abdul Quyyom thanked all the volunteers for helping with umpiring and scoring duties and the league sponsors, World Wide Cash & Carry for sponsoring Man of the Match medals, and Naz Kebab House for sponsoring match balls.
