Date published: 28 May 2009

Rochdale Swarm's international mixed tag rugby league festival takes place this Saturday (30 May).

With teams of men and women coming from Limerick and Cork in Ireland, Bridgend in Wales, Loch Lomond in Scotland along with a Fiji Representative side, the event will be a truly international occasion.

There also teams from across England, including sides from York, Coventry, Leeds, Bradford, Widnes and Huddersfield alongside several Rochdale based teams.

The head of Tag Rugby (OzTag) in Australia, former NRL First grader Kurt Wrigley is flying in to attend the tournament and Ireland Rugby League international Ged Corcoran will also be in attendance.

Most of the teams are arriving on the Friday night for a welcome party, with the real action kicking off at 2pm on the Saturday at Rakewood in Littleborough.

There is no charge for spectators and everyone is welcome to attend.

As well as the action on the pitch there will be a brass band, various stalls, with the Festival's official equipment supplier, KooGa Rugby, also hosting their own display.

The event finishes off with the presentation to the winning teams and a disco into the early hours.

With the weather forecast predicting a beautiful sunny day the organisers are confident of a bumper turnout.
