Twenty fire-fighters tackled a fire at a bar in Heywood last night (Wed 12 May).
Shortly after 9.30pm crews attended an incident involving a three storey mid terraced property, consisting of a lounge bar, Miami Ice, on the ground floor with separate residential accommodation above.
Fire-fighters used breathing apparatus and jets to contain and extinguish the fire in the ground floor of the building.
The incident left debris scattered over a large area of Market Place and the structure of the building was also affected.
As a safety precaution a section of Market Place has been closed and is likely to remain closed for some time.
Both the ground floor bar and residential accommodation above were empty at the time of the incident, and there have been no reported injuries.
The cause of the incident is now the subject of a multi agency investigation.
