Good news for Rochdale, Retail Ready People is coming to town
Date published: 25 January 2013
Retail Ready People is bringing a new 12 week skills development and volunteering programme to Rochdale.
The charity has teamed up with vInspired and the Retail Trust to offer young people aged 16-25 in the borough the opportunity to enter or progress in the retail sector.
At a presentation at the Pioneers Museum on Toad Lane this morning (Friday 25 January), Dan Thompson, of the Empty Shops Network, explained the project will set up a pop up shop in Rochdale town centre and give 30 young people the chance to take part in a free training programme to develop retail skills.
Local MP Simon Danczuk welcomed the initiative and said: "This is very good news. I am delighted that Retail Ready People is coming to Rochdale. I have no doubt that they will provide the inspiration that young people in Rochdale will need to start work in the high street.
"I've been in business and I know how difficult it is to get a business going but through the advice and mentoring given by Retail Ready People I have no doubt that it will help encourage our high street to be better than it already is."
