Thousands flock to year’s first Bowlee car boot sale

Date published: 13 April 2011

The sunshine brought thousands of eager car boot sellers and bargain hunters to Bowlee Community Park on Sunday (10 April) for the first Bowlee car boot sale of 2011.
Around 5,500 flocked to sell their wares or grab a bargain at one of Greater Manchester’s biggest and most popular outdoor car boot events.

One buyer was so keen to be the first to grab a bargain he camped outside the park from 4.30am!

Gary Green, project lead for Bowlee Car Boot Sales from Rochdale Borough Council, enthused: “We’re absolutely delighted with the turn out. Lots of people had been anticipating the event – especially the chap who’d waited from 4.30am to get in – so we’re extremely pleased with its success.

"The feedback from buyers and sellers was really encouraging. Everyone I spoke to said it was well managed and very enjoyable – and that’s exactly what we aimed to do.”
